- Please note that a metal detector security check is required to enter the Vatican Museums, and while priority tickets are included, there may be some wait time to pass through security.
- This is a list of prohibited items inside the Vatican Museums.It includes:
a) food and beverages of any kind;
b) luggage, bags, packages, and containers that exceed the dimensions of 40 x 35 x 15 cm;
c) backpacks, with the possible exception of small ones that can be worn on the shoulders and do not protrude more than 15 cm from the body’s silhouette at the maximum point;
d) pointed umbrellas or those of medium and large sizes, sticks (when not used to facilitate mobility), tripods for cameras and camcorders, signs and signs of any kind;
e) knives, scissors, and/or metallic tools of various kinds that could pose a danger to people and/or the exhibited works inside the Museums;
f) any object that, at the indisputable discretion of the Custody Corps, may pose a danger to the integrity and safety of the Vatican Museums’ premises. - Please be aware that the Vatican Museum Administration may close the Museum or parts of it at any time, with or without notice, due to events, strikes, or any other reasons.
